Foundation work has begun at 1549 North Fremont Street on the Near North Side, where Encore serves as general contractor on a 132-unit residential development for City Pads. Following the issuance of the full building permit, the project has moved from permitting into active construction.
The five-story building will be studio-heavy — with 112 of its 132 units as studios — and will include 26 affordable apartments. At street level, plans call for 8,000 square feet of retail, a residential lobby, and a 29-car garage, with a shared garden terrace above the parking. The location puts future residents within walking distance of the North/Clybourn Red Line station and several bus routes.
